Description of Programme for ADOS-2 Clinical Training

Thursday 9th of February 2017

  • 9.30 am – 10.00 am (Sharp)          –          Registration
  • 10.00 am – 11.00 am          –          Introduction to the use of ADOS-2 in the assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorders
    This introductory session gives a general overview of the ADOS-2 assessment. The development of the tool is
    discussed. Factors influencing reliability and validity for use in Autistic Spectrum Disorders are also discussed. Issues
    relating to the use of the ADOS-2 by clinicians in the assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorder are also discussed.
  • 11.00 am – 12.00 pm          –          Modules 3 & 4 – Administration and coding
    This provides an introduction to the ADOS-2 tool and a more detailed discussion of Modules 3 and 4. The session will include a discussion of how to decide if using a Module 3 or 4 is appropriate, the administration of the Module 3 and 4 and how to score the assessment. This session will be conducted in a lecture format.
  • 12.00 pm – 12.15 pm          –          Coffee
  • 12.15 pm – 1.00 pm          –          Modules 3 & 4 – Administration and coding
  • 1.00 pm – 1.45 pm          –          Small groups – Administration and Role play – Module 3 & 4
    This session will be conducted in small groups. The groups will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the materials used for modules 3 and 4. During this session they will role-play the administration of the modules. The small groups will be facilitated by individuals experienced in the administration of the ADOS-2.
  • 1.45 pm – 2.30 pm          –          Lunch
  • 2.30 pm – 3.30 pm          –          Viewing and rating of video Module 3 & 4
    During this session a training video of either a Module 3 or 4 is shown to the group. The group will be asked to score the Module. After viewing the tape the scoring is discussed among the group and with the course facilitators. This will provide an opportunity for participants to clarify any questions they might have in relation to the use of Modules 3 and 4.
  • 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm          –          Coding the ADOS-2 – Modules 3 & 4
  • 4.30 pm – 4.45 pm          –          Reliability Coding – Modules 3 & 4
  • 4.45 pm – 5.00 pm          –          Psychometrics
  • 5.00 pm END          –          Training Course Day 1

Friday 10th of February 2017

  • 9.30 am – 10.30 am Modules 1 & 2 – Administration and coding
    This session will provide a more detailed discussion of Modules 1 and 2. Similar to the morning session there will be discussion of how to decide if using a Module 1 or 2 is appropriate, the administration of the Modules and how to score the assessment. This session will be conducted in a lecture format.
  • 10.30 am – 11.15 am Small groups –Administration and Role play-Module 1 & 2
    This session will be conducted in small groups. The groups will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the materials used for modules 1 and 2. During this session they will role-play the administration of the modules. The small groups will be facilitated by individuals experienced in the administration of the ADOS-2.

  • 2.00 pm – 3.15 pm Module for Toddlers – Administration and new tasks coding
    This introductory session gives a general overview of the Module for Toddlers in ADOS-2 assessment. The session will include a discussion of how to use the Module for Toddlers, the administration of the Module and how to score the assessment. This session will be conducted in a lecture format.
  • 3.15 pm – 4.15 pm Viewing and rating of video Module for Toddlers
    During this session a training video of Module for Toddlers is shown to the group. The group will be asked to score the Module. After viewing the tape the scoring is discussed among the group and with the course facilitators. This will provide an opportunity for participants to clarify any questions they might have in relation to the use of Module for Toddlers.
  • 4.15 pm – 5.00 pm Coding the ADOS-2 – Module for Toddlers
