Recruitment to Higher Specialist Training (HST) in Psychiatry

Applications for the July 2020 intake to Higher Specialist Training in Psychiatry is now closed.

“Streamlining Candidates”

“Streamlining Candidates” – individuals who are completing this College’s BST programme in Psychiatry (i.e. those who have received a satisfactory outcome at their BST3 Annual Review of Progress and passed the College’s Clinical Exam) will be asked to provide the following information at the time of application.

  • Certified copy of other degree/diplomas [if applicable].
  • 2 ‘HST candidate appraisal forms’ (references) (with relevant hospital stamp) must be uploaded with your application.

“Non-Streamlining Candidates”

Non-Streamlining Candidates – (please refer to the College’s Regulations – July 2019 for Basic and Higher Specialist Training on ‘Streamlined Training’), will be required to meet the eligibility criteria for entry Higher Specialist Training. Non-Streamlining candidates must provide the following at the time of application.

  • Certified copy of Medical Council of Ireland Registration Certificate, Trainee Division [if applicable]

OR

  • An email from the Medical Council of Ireland attesting eligibility for entry to the Trainee Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland Register [if applicable]
  • A certified copy of IELTS Result or OET test (English Language Proficiency) [if applicable]
  • A certified copy of transcript of exam results from your Medical School/University – must be included
  • Certified copy of MRCPsych (or equivalent) Certificate – must be included
  • Certified copy of other degree/diplomas [if applicable]
  • 2 ‘HST Candidate Appraisal Forms’ (references) (with relevant hospital stamp) must be uploaded with your application.
  • Other e.g. evidence of previous Accredited Medical Training experience.
  • A certified colour copy of passport to include picture identification page.
