Higher Specialist Training (HST) Recruitment – July 2020 Intake

Applications for the July 2020 intake to Higher Specialist Training in Psychiatry is now open. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 17th January 2020 at 5pm. For HST recruitment related queries please contact recruitment@irishpsychiatry.ie

Please note that the application process has changed from previous years and applicants will now apply online through the website. POSTED PAPER COPIES OF APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Interviews for both HST Programmes will take place in late February 2020 in a Dublin city centre location.

Please download the relevant application form (explained below), complete it, save it and submit it electronically below. Please ensure you also upload any and all relevant accompanying documentation as required.

“Streamlining Trainees” – Application FORM A

Application Form A should be completed by all “Streamlining Trainees” – individuals who are completing this College’s BST programme in Psychiatry (i.e. those who have received a satisfactory outcome at their BST3 Annual Review of Progress and passed the College’s Clinical Exam).  These Trainees must submit this Form A (with accompanying documentation) by the closing date of Friday, 17th January 2020.

It is important that you read the ‘Guidelines for completion of FORM A’ and have all accompanying documentation ready for upload with the application form before you commence completing your application. Please ensure you also upload any and all relevant accompanying documentation as required

  • Certified copy of other degree/diplomas [if applicable].
  • 2 ‘HST candidate appraisal forms’ (references) (with relevant hospital stamp) must be uploaded with your application.

“Non-Streamlining Trainees” – Application Form B

All “Non-Streamlining Trainees” – must submit Form B (with accompanying documentation) by the closing date of Friday, 17th January 2020.

It is important that you read the ‘Guidelines for completion of FORM B’ and have all accompanying documentation ready for upload with the application form before you commence completing your application.

Please ensure you also upload any and all relevant accompanying documentation as required which will include some or all of the following:

  • Certified copy of Medical Council of Ireland Registration Certificate [if applicable]
  • An email copy from the Medical Council of Ireland attesting eligibility for entry in the Trainee Specialist Division of the Medical Register [if applicable]
  • A certified copy of IELTS Result or OET test [if applicable]
  • A certified copy of transcript of exam results from your Medical School/University must be included
  • Certified copy of MRCPsych (or equivalent) Certificate – must be included
  • Certified copy of other degree/diplomas [if applicable]
  • 2 ‘HST Candidate Appraisal Forms’ (references) (with relevant hospital stamp) must be uploaded with your application.
  • Other e.g. evidence of previous Accredited Medical Training experience
