About the Faculty
The WHO states that “the enjoyment of the
highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental
rights of every human being.” The Faculty of Addictions promotes
this right for those with an addiction problem. The Faculty does by
encouraging best practice amongst its members, advocating for
effective treatment and extending the evidence base in the Irish
setting.
The Faculty aims to :
- Support Psychiatrists specialised in
addiction treatment
- Encourage learning of best practice
- Support evidence-based policy making
- Facilitate research in the field of
addiction
- Act at a reservoir of expert opinion
